I don't think _anybody_ needs any particular excuse to dislike Billy
Martin. He lived his life for seemingly the sole purpose of providing
ammunition to his detractors.

But give me a .500 club (preferably with some youngsters and mid-career
underachievers) and there's probably no manager in the history of the
game I'd rather have, to give that team a shot at .590+ ball. For a
year or so.
