Not really. If Canada could protect its own perimeters, it wouldn't
have to worry as much about illegal immigrants arriving virtually
anywhere they wish, creating states within your state, and further
dividing Canada. It would mean the border between the US and Canada
wouldn't have to be as secure making trade easier.

But Canada currently can't effectively police its borders (as opposed
to the US which *won't* effectively police its borders for political
reasons), and it's primarily because of lack of funding. The reason,
at least in part, for the lack of military funding is due to the cost
of Canada's welfare system and social programs.

Do you believe there's a movement underway to merge Mexico, the US,
and Canada into the United States of North America much like the EU
has done? If you want to avoid that like I do, then Canada must wean
itself from the US security tit. I'm rooting for you.
