How do you know it isn't physical, Professor X?
But if it is indeed physical, why do you suppose Torre keeps running
him out there? It seems to me, if you are hurt, and you are a key
player, there has to be a time to say "okay, I am taking a break and
letting myself heal" If not to 100%, at least something to help the
poor guy. If its an injury, he is killing himself in the eyes of the
fans, and I am sure his brain has to be turning to mush by now.
What on earth is the point? Because he wants to impress people? It
cannot be the trading issue anymore.
Hey, if you cannot play well, sit down, and see if the team can
survive without you for X amount of time. If whomever they put up at
third turns into a total turd, well, then put Arod back in, but I am
having a hard time seeing what the point is in having a guy play, and
bat in the meat of the lineup, when he is either hurting, or he has
mental issues, or both.
The Sox are sucking wind, but they are still a solid team that knows
how to win, and to not do -everything- possible to put some miles
between them and us, right now, doesn't make a lot of sense.
Arod may still be somewhat productive, but I think by now, the
negatives are probably taking a toll on him, and his whole team,
especially the pitchers. The long term effect could be a complete
disaster if he takes this with him into the stretch run.
How many types of injuries can we come up with, that screw up your
swing, mess up your arm, and yet are guaranteed NOT to get worse
without resting it? Seems like if its that bad, its a pretty big risk
that he will mess up his mind, mechanics, and swing so bad, the may
never get it all back.
Again. What's the point in playing hurt, when you are not really
helping all that much? He's not the only guy who can hit 280 and drive
in a run now and then.
