There have been some occasions where a RF threw a batter out at first as
well. Larry Walker did it at least once (many years ago). I wonder if
that might be easier for obvious hits, depending on the defensive
alignment, because the runner on first gets a head start. For
non-obvious hits (i.e., not sure whether it will fall in), getting the
guy at 2B is easier because he might hold up waiting to see whether the
ball is falling.
