Listening to it on the radio, I almost felt like Joe was trying to
lose it. Pitch Small as a starter, leave him in when he's getting
bombed, replace him with Erickson and then Proctor. When Farnsworth
gave up the tying run, I thought that the Yanks would probably blow
the lead completely and lose. But I've learned not to give up on this
offense, and fortunately, they used their best pitcher in the 9th and
extra innings. As a Yankees fan, I'll take every win gladly, but this
bullpen is full of holes, and there's no good reason for that. And the
starting staff is problematic, too. I say again: As currently
constituted, this team may not make the playoffs.

Small got BOMBED?? Did I miss that?? Small pitched pretty well and got
himself out of trouble a couple of times. Had Jeter made the DP, Small would
have pitched another inning, maybe more.
Right now this team is built to get to the playoffs. Right now this team is
not built to WIN the playoffs. Maybe Dotel changes that a little when gets
called up. Maybe when Chacon comes back, he can help us some more. But this
team needs to win with RJ, Moose and Wang each pitching into the 7th innings
to save the pen for Wright and Chacon.
