What do you all say to a new nickname for Kyle Farnsworth-less?! At the
very least he's NOT worth $18 million, but then we all knew that before
the season started! "Pa"
Too early to tell. He's barely had two months for the Yankees. Lousy
so far though. But I'm glad they gave him the money instead of Gordon.
He is fast becoming "The Run Fairy 2".
There is absolutely no comparison.
How do you figure?
When he comes in, the other team scores runs, and he struck out Ortiz
once. He might as well change his name to Felix. ;)
Farnie this year: 1.58 WHIP, 4.50 ERA
The Run Fairy career line: 1.48 WHIP, 4.42 ERA
Farnie's past week is eerily similar to TRF's 2004 line:
KF- 2.06 WHIP, 6.75 ERA
TRF- 1.65 WHIP, 6.28 ERA
Farnsquat could supplant TRF v. 1.0 if he keeps it up. Easily...
Because Farnsworth strikes out batters at more than a batter per IP
(which is consistent with his past performance) and Heredia did not,
and for a reliever I consider that a meaningful distinction. Moreover,
if you look at Farnsworth's recent history, his lack of command is not
something you would expect to continue if he is healthy.
As I've said before, Farnsworth's command looks awful, and that's hurt
him. I'm not suggesting he is pitching well, clearly he is not.
Heredia was a pitcher with limited ability who "succeeded" (sort of) as
a lefty slinging it up there against lefties. Without the lefty-lefty
advantage, he was much worse. They are really not comparable pitchers.
