Torre the arm-wrecker?

Of the top seven pitchers with the most games pitched in club history,
all seven are Torre-era pitchers.
No.1 Paul Quantrill (2004) 86 games
Quantrill pitched 22 more games for the Yankees in 2005 and was gone.
Everybody here probably remembers his good first-half
and bad second-half in 2004.
No.2 Tom Gordon (2004) 80 games
No.3 Tom Gordon (2005) 79 games (tied)
Gordon & Nelson (below) are probably the only pitchers
among these five who were able to handle the high workload.
No.3 Mike Stanton (2002) 79 games (tied)
No.7 Mike Stanton (2001) 76 games
Stanton, an integral part of the three-peat,
signed with the Mets in 2003 and never again
was viewed as a reliable relief pitcher.
No.5 Steve Karsay (2002) 78 games
Karsay, who signed a 4-year $23 million contract on December 7, 2001
was out all of 2003 with arm problems and pitched just 13 more games
for the club and was considered finished.
No.6 Jeff Nelson (1997) 77 games
Nelson was also an integral part of the three-peat
but left after 2000 to go back to Seattle.
When he briefly returned in 2003, he was ineffective
but that wasn't Torre's fault.
