around here means little, but Cinco DeMayo is celebrated like there is no
tomorrow. And, this is by legal Mexican American's. I have no problem
with
people being proud of their heritage, but sheesh, this is getting out of
control.

Folks who don't live in this part of the world have no idea just how bad
things really are. Our houses are built by people who can't speak a lick
of
English while American contractors and construction workers struggle to
find
work.
Highly doubtful.

You from here? Know anything about the situation? I thought not!

Indeed I do. And what I know I have learned from reading on the
subject, not regurgitating half-baked arguments created by rich white
men interested in gaining and hoarding political power by engendering
fear based on lies.

Allot of people don't even realize that Mexicans come across the border
when
they're fixing to give birth saying their gong shopping, which is legal
with
no questions asked. Then they wind up in the emergency room and the
American tax payer foots the bill. Top make the matter worse, since the
kid
was born here, he and the parents now have rights to our medical,
schools,
you name it. They never put a dollar into the system, but are sucking us
dry.

You keep hearing about the rising price of health care? Guess why? Same
thing for insurance, schools, etc. The Illegal immigrants are a major
drain
on our economy. What we get in the way of their cheap labor does not
benefit the average Joe one bit, just the corporations who are using them
for cheap labor and pocketing the profit.

Sorry guys, I realize this is the Yankees NG so I'll get off my soapbox.
But, this is just such a serious subject I think it needs to be discussed
and brought to light at every opportunity. We are being invaded and are
in
jeopardy of losing our country and many people don't even realize it.

Fascinating tirade, and not for the reasons you intended.

Huh? If you got a point to make just come out and say it.

Ok, Jack. You're either a bigot or, more likely, not bright enough to
realize you're being used as a tool of the bigots who gain power by
convincing white people to fear brown people. Either way, you've
coughed up a pile of ***. That clear enough for you, Jack?

It would seem that you still have much to learn on the subject. I
suggest you continue your "reading" program and be aware that you are
spewing liberal propaganda and sounding a bit like a tool of the
radical left.

Show me the propoganda. All I've done is question the "brown people
are ruining America" horse*** Jack was throwing around. That's
propoganda? You're also making a large (and faulty) assumption about
my political leanings. That's a common mistake by those on both sides.
You're way off, though. Requiring someone to have some shred of
intellectual consistency doesn't make one the polar opposite in their
viewpoint.

Calling people bigots or tools of bigots (or racist, etc) on the
subject of illegal immigration is misleading and wrong - some would
say leftist propaganda.

Well, anyone who would jump to that conclusion because I consider
Jack's commentary to be bigoted is welcome to think whatever they want
from me. He blurted a series of non-sequiturs, anecdotes and
half-truths as if they were factual evidence of real societal or
political issues. Then he explained to me that "some people" want to
give US states to Mexico. That's not an expression of a serious
opinion on the complicated iossues related to immigration, nor an
opening for a dialogue worthy of a reasoned response. Rather, as I
said, its someone coughing up reheated ideas which have their roots in
political efforts to use race as a tool to obtain or maintain power.

For the record, I made clear that Jack might not be a bigot, he might
just be too dumb to know otherwise. That still seems quite possible,
particularly in light of the brilliant "They're giving away New
Mexico!" rebuttal.

Most people who are against illegal
immigration feel that way not because of racism or bigotry, but
because of the severe negative economic impact in terms of health,
education, and welfare costs which far outweigh any benefits derived
from cheap lettuce.

I'm against illegal immigration. That doesn't mean I have to support
or condone Jack's comments. Nor does it mean I have to support
half-baked legislation which doesn't do anything to address the real
issues associated with immigration merely because some politician
attaches racial or nationalistic rhetoric to it as a political means to
get his own personal issues advanced for himself or his constituency,
in order to keep his job and political power. That's the beauty of
democracy.

Worse, many illegal Mexicans do not feel any
allegiance to America - their loyalty remains with Mexico.

That might be true. I don't know it to be true. I doubt you do.
Either way, I'm not sure what it has to do with the issue, apart from
denigrating Mexicans working in the US.

If you look at the problems in France recently due to their large,
unassimilated Muslim population, you can see that in order to maintain
our American culture and way of life - it is important that immigrants
come here legally, and because they want to, and that they will
embrace America in its entirety - not just for the paycheck which they
send back to Mexico.

I'm not sure what you mean by "maintain our American culture and way of
life", but there's a fair chance its not what I view as my American
culture and way of life. I'm happy to have you, Jack and Bill Frist
maintain your "American culture and way of life" if you leave mine
alone. Deal?
