Mickey Hart was a member of the Dead for most, but not all, of their
existence. In fact, the preferred years for many Deadheads are
1972-1974, the years Hart was *not* with the band. But Mickey was an
integral part of the group during the '68-'69 era, which was the peak
of the band's primal and psychedelic era.

She bought a CD at the concert. I listened to it briefly. Definitely not my cup of tea
(or drug of choice) but interesting. Had that sort of "all world"
sound, though predominitely African but not limited to that.

Mickey Hart was definitely into African drumming. IMO, some of the
African drummers he played with were better that he was.

Hart composed a drumming piece that was used at the opening ceremony
at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Although I've been a huge fan of the
Dead for a long time (or maybe because of it), I found the piece
predictable and unimpressive.

Okay then most likely it was Mickey Hart. She generally has the CD in
her car. She can't get enough of that African drum sound. I'll have to
check out exactly who it is and who is on it.

Baba Olatunji, most likely.
