Lupica is right.
NY (over) spent millions on Damon for a number of reasons:
1. Nobody to trade for a quality CF.
2. George likes mature veterans.
3. To make a publicity splash and sell tickets.
4. To try to hurt the Red Sox.
Crisp is pretty comparable to Damon right now in performance, and is far
cheaper giving the Red Sox $10 million/year to spend elsewhere.
By the end of Damon's contract Crisp will probably be vastly superior.
