I live in NY. I don't want to go to LA, for example. It has nothing to
do with stress from LA, I just want to stay in the NY-metro-area. Giles
can have tons of reasons why he wouldn't want to go to a particular place.

You are making assumptions. You have no idea why Giles might not want
to come to NY. Maybe he doesn't like big cities as a personal
preference--far different from stress or fear. Maybe he wants a backyard.
