Reality: On this newsgroup, on May 25, 2011, I posted the following:
QUOTE: "Mr. Bay cited the 2010 season as well as his slow start to
the 2011.
He is presently batting .227, with two home runs and 8 RBI. He said
he will take some time to assess his options before deciding on the
career path he will pursue, but that his family supports his decision
fully, considering what he is doing to the family name when he steps
into the batter's box."
How much would you pay to see that story on the cover of tomorrow's
newspaper? Too bad we will never see it ! UNQUOTE.
Reality: On July 19, 2011, you posted the following:
:::Go back and look at their wins since Bay's first game this year.
:: What is their record when he didn't start or when he batted sixth
:: or lower versus their record when he batted fifth or higher. The
:: facts are what they are !
In particular, I'd like to call your attention to the portion of your
post that refers to "Bay's first game this year." Note that this
post says nothing about downward trends in general or May 8 in
particular. You told us all to go back and look at the team's record
since Bay's FIRST GAME -- and that's exactly what I did. And now
that you've been proven wrong, you're desperately trying to reinvent
your own argument.
No matter how much you twist and squirm, though, you can't change the
facts. You're the one who's been caught with your pants down, Monty,
and now we can all see for ourselves just how pitifully inadequate
your own "junk" really is.
So who is claiming that I didn't see that Bay should be batting low in
the lineup or benched?
Nobody is claiming that you haven't been trolling this newsgroup for
weeks about Jason Bay. But in the process, you also challenged the
rest of us to check the team's record without Bay, and their record
when he bats below fifth in the lineup. Well, I did that, and I
posted the numbers that show quite clearly that it hasn't made any
difference in the team's overall performance. But instead of simply
accepting the fact that you've been proven wrong, you've now spent the
last two days backtracking from your original claim and littering the
group with more of your manipulative, misleading crap. And in so
doing, you've succeeded only in proving what a thoroughly dishonest
individual you really are.
I looked over the numbers I posted before and found one mistake, so
here is the corrected version (still clearly supporting my point by a
"country mile"):
This is what happened when Bay bat fifth or higher, starting with May
8:
Once again, I remind you of your original challenge: "Go back and
look at their wins since Bay's first game this year." May 8 was not
Jason Bay's first game. It was his 14th, the team's record in those
first 13 games was 10-3, and Bay batted fifth or higher in the order
in all 13 of them. This latest "correction" is just one more lame
attempt at revisionism; not only do you refuse to abide by the same
parameters that YOU set yourself, you're still cherry-picking the data
and deliberately ignoring those first 13 games, and you're still using
games in which Bay didn't even play in support of your now-disproved
claim that the team has performed better when he bats sixth.
Either way, you're still a lying sack of shit.
[bogus "corrections" snipped]
But go ahead and say I'm wrong about Bay (and was no later than May
25), because by doing so,
Whether your assertions about Bay are correct is no longer the issue.
The issue is that you're a liar. You lied when you claimed that the
team had a better record with Bay batting sixth, and you lied when you
claimed they were better with him on the Bench. And all of your
dishonest manipulations of the numbers can't change any of that.
The bottom line here is that you're a compulsive troll who continually
looks for stuff to bitch about. And with David Wright out of the
lineup, you needed a new whipping boy, so you latched on to Jason Bay
and this business about the batting order. But none of it is going
to make a damned bit of difference in the end, because Jason Bay is
signed through 2014, which means that he'll be a Met next season
whether you like it or not.
you only make yourself look incredibly ignorant about baseball.
No, Monty. You're making yourself look incredibly ignorant about
baseball, and you do so every time you post here. I'm just helping
to expose your idiocy and dishonesty for anyone who might still be
taken in by it. At this point, though, it's really not as though
you need any more help in that department.
As difficult as it may be for you to believe, there are Mets
fans who actually want to see them maximize wins.
As difficult as it may be for your to believe, it's possible for Mets
fans to want to see this team succeed without obsessing over every
single move that Terry Collins makes. Every Mets fan wants to see
them become consistent winners. But most of us recognize that it's
not going to happen this year, and frankly, if they're not going to
compete for a playoff berth, then I really couldn't care less whether
if they could eke out 1 or 2 additional wins by moving Bay down in the
batting order or benching him. This team is going to struggle
either way, and nobody really cares how many games a mediocre
fourth-place team ultimately winds up winning, except for obsessive
compulsive nutcases like yourself.
One last thing mistakes are not "lies."
When you make a false claim without bothering to do the research and
then challenge everyone else to prove you wrong, one could argue that
this is just laziness on your part, as opposed to a deliberate act of
dishonesty. However, when your claim is then exposed as false and
you continue to try to justify it by selectively cherry-picking the
data to mislead people, that's not a "mistake." That's lying.
And you, Monty, are a liar.
