Re: Today's Hernandez & Darling take on Mets 2010.

This was during the top of the 7th inning. They point out that it was
only when Reyes was clearly healthy and playing well that the team won
this year. They said nothing about Wright making a contribution to
winning this year.

Jerry said Wright is too streaky for a player at that point in his
career.

Steve Phillips described Wright (and Reyes) as "second tier" players,
and they that need at least a couple of big bats to be "complemented,"
which makes little sense, because if Darling/Hernandez are correct
about Reyes, and Pagan keeps playing the way he has, and you have two
new big bats you added during the offseason (along with Davis, Duda,
Thole, etc.), then what would be the point of paying Wright huge money
for several more years? Is ownership willing to do this (which would
be fine with me)? Start to face facts: ownership is likely to
aggressively shop Wright very soon (along with Reyes and Beltran
probably, and possibly others).

Let me say first that I am a big fan of Angel Pagan. But to call him a
big bat is just wrong. Here we are at the end of what probably will be
considered his "career year". Look at his OPS which is about 800 vs
RHP and a good bit lower vs lefties. I believe this is about average
for a major league outfielder. And I just don't see that he has shown
us that he can improve on it.

Depending on who the new GM is he should consider trading Pagan while
his value is at its peak. If a good offer doesn't come up then keep
him and hope he can stay healthy and reasonably productive in CF next
year.
