Ever since the Mets traded Randy Myers for John Franco the Mets
closers are cursed. Franco is as adventurous as they come. Benitez
is always a heart-attack giver. Looper not much better. We thought
we had an answer in Wagner and he became Benitez, and now it seems
like F-Rod is following their footsteps.
Can any Met closer give us the good old 1-2-3 ninth inning anymore?
The Mets were looking for an experienced closer and they got one in
John Franco. Unfortunately that coincided with Mets overall team
downfall so despite Franco's good numbers for quite a few years, the
Mets didn't make it to the playoffs during his time with the team.
Don't excuse the man, he's closing ways are always runners on, giving
up runs, and sometimes flat out blow away games. Just like Benitez he
saves majority of them, but finds ways to give fans heart-attacks.
Any closer/setup man that stays with the same team for 15 seasons is
going to wear out his welcome and 'smiley boy' certainly did.
He worn out his welcome because he sucks
