You will have to explain to me why anybody would be 'tempted' to acquire

This trade has really soured me on Minaya, but I believe this came from
Jeff. It has Jeffry written all over it. It was a complete waste, and
Low and Behold, the Mets are trying to figure out who will be the setup
man out of the pen this season.
I honestly don't see why you feel this has Jeff all over it? Minaya
obviously felt Angel Pagan wasn't the answer and he thought he needed
a 'proven' OF. To me it's no different then Gabby Hernandez and Dante
Brinkley for Paul Lo Duca when he already had Jesus Flores and Ramon
Castro. It's no different then signing Luis Castillo to an extension
when nobody else in baseball would have given him a multi-year deal.
It's no different then bidding against yourself for Oliver Perez.
The thing I appreciated about the article I started with the tread
with is that it pointed out that the Mets ownership is difficult and
as a result not everything is Omar's fault . . . but he holds the
title of 'General MANAGER' and he needs to MANAGE the organization.
Sometimes that means he even has to manage his boss. I have to do
that everyday. Sometimes I have to manage the owner of my company
too. That's part of his job. That's what the Cashman's and the
Epstein's do best. That's what Andy MacPhail is finally doing in
Baltimore which is why the Orioles are on the right track.
I don't think Omar Minaya is a terrible baseball man. I think he's a
bit outdated in some of his core principles, but I certainly don't
think he's hopeless. I think he's a terrible manager for an
organization as dysfunctional as the Mets in a cauldron as hot as New
York. I think he could be a good GM in a place like Cincinnati. I
think he'd be an excellent Scouting Director for the Mets. I think he
understands talent. I also think he falls in love with guys and needs
somebody above him bringing a reality check to the table.
I just think he's done here. The Wilpons have marginalized him and at
this point he has very little hope of recovery.
I don't know what this team wants to do at this point. But if they want
a playoff run, they should be looking really closely at trading for
Miguel Cabrera in June.
Ruben
Yeah . . . no thanks. Manny Ramirez-lite. He's a DH. I'd rather go
spend the money in the draft to actually draft some pitching above
slot for a change.
