Excellent research! He was part of two of the NY Giant teams that played
the Babe Ruth Yankees (Actually the Giants and Yankees went head to head 3
years in a row, Giants 2 Yankees 1 in the first real Baseball Rivalry).
And despite his own reports and general thought, Stengle wasn't a bad
player at all. He played a very disiplined game straight through the
worse of the Dead Ball era and finished with a OPS over 120 as I recall.
And he played Center Field. Compare that with Carlos Beltran.
