Because spring training is a reliable indicator of how the regular
season will play out, a stance espoused by many a Mut fan on this
board very recently,
Name three.
Bruno Tiomboni, Mary1973, and all the other Mutropolitan fans on this
newsgroup who let their preposterous ebullience over the Muts's 2009
spring training go unchallenged. So there. That's at least 25.
So let's see... we've got two... one of whom shows up about twice a year... some alleged silence-equals-consent types... and you, who remained silent for some weeks. What changed your mind? Did you decide that A-Rod admitting to steroid use, and undermining the morale of his own team yet again by expressing a preference to having Jose Reyes as his team' shortstop over either himself or Derek Jeter, makes the Yankees more worthy of your support?
I suspect it does, but I guess what you think is more important on this particular issue. Not that anyone gives a shit, either way, about what you think; it's just your issue, and nobody else's.
it thence follows that the St Louis Cardinals
will obliterate the Muts in every single game they play against one
another this season. Still feeling jolly, are we?
I'm feeling like 3-3 is better than 2-4-1, no matter how you slice it.
Especially when the 1 is to the team the Mets creamed.
Sorry, I should have mentioned you, Fill, along with Bruno and Mary,
because obviously you also share the indefensibly ridiculous
philosophy that spring training is a meaningful indicator of anything
at all.
Actually, I don't, but then I don't find it necessary to go out of my way to post to the newsgroups of teams I claim not to care about, to tell people how they should and shouldn't feel. Evidently there's something about spring training that you find sufficiently important to make you do that. What could it be, if not the classic hard-on for the Mets so frequently and secretly experienced by Yankee fans?
But then again, it does make sense that Mut fans would take a
lot of stock in spring training, given that by the season's gagging
end you will have to resort to those ancient memories to derive any
pleasure from the Muts's season.
You mean, apart from the inevitable Yankee loss in the season's interleague play against the Mets, their fated dismal finish in their own division's standings in spite of a payroll greater than the GNP of a small country, and the personal satisfaction the least articulate members of this newsgroup derive from personally and repeatedly bitch-slapping you? And, hopefully, some good baseball on top of all that? That all sounds pretty fulfilling, actually.
