Out of curiosity . . . if you trade Church . . . then who exactly is
going to play RF? The problem is that Milledge was the only OF in the
minor actually READY to be a starter in a MLB lineup.

If Omar intends on keeping Church, the acquisition speaks volumes about his
confidence (or lack thereof) in Milledge's readiness.


Everybody is so focused on talking about his attitude. I really don't
think his skill set had anything to do with the deal. I think the PR-
conscious Wilpon's wanted to see him gone. What they will never
understand (much like the Dolan's) is that winning is what makes
people forget these stupid things. If you win, nobody cares.


With him gone,

you can't trade Church unless you can get an OF back. There's
basically nothing on the free agent market unless you want Jose
Guillen . . . but if everybody thought Milledge was a bad egg . . .

The market for non-tendereds should open up later this month. You can bet
the ranch that there'll be at least one place-holder in that group.

The sad part is there may be someone as good as Church in the non-
tender group, which makes this deal look even more pathetic.
