The point was that Milledge is actually as good or better than Young,
yet the Mets got the worst of a deal thanks to a bad reputation
created by the media. And the funny thing is, now the same people who
blasted Milledge are not criticizing the Mets for not getting enough.
It's really pathetic that Minaya made this move. Plain stupid.

I completely agree with you and Richard. If Church or Gomez are not
flipped for Bedard or Haren, then it is an indefensible move.

To respond, obviously drop the "nospan"?

Out of curiosity . . . if you trade Church . . . then who exactly is
going to play RF?

AROD

1. Arod is signing with the Yankees.

2. Arod is not going to to sign with anybody and play RF.

The problem is that Milledge was the only OF in the
minor actually READY to be a starter in a MLB lineup. With him gone,
you can't trade Church unless you can get an OF back.

Sure I can. If this guy never sees a Mets uniform I'm more OK than I
am with the deal AND playing him.

You still didn't realistically answer the question . . . which was who
was going to play RF.

There's
basically nothing on the free agent market unless you want Jose
Guillen . . . but if everybody thought Milledge was a bad egg . . .

Omar has already stated that Church is the everyday RF for this
upcoming year...and possibly 2009. The only way he's not, is if the
Mets need to make another injury trade, ala Nady. Chavez will be the
4th OF and give Alou a breather. Gomez will either be on the
bench...or back in AAA.

So that is it. Alou, Beltran, Church...with Chavez popping in every
once and a while.
