I think the general view is that since Willie has two years left on his
contract that he will be back to start '08 as mgr - even if the worst
happens which is to miss the playoffs.
But if the team does miss the playoffs or plays poorly and is bumped in
round one I believe the clock starts on Willie's dismissal. If the
team is playing uninspired ball in midseason next year I believe he'll
be canned.
So the question is: who would you like to see as the next manager?
Answers like Lou Pinella are not too helpful since he has a job and has
said he doesn't plan to manage again after he's done with them (and
vice versa).
For me I'd be happy with Joe Girardi.
