I was listening to XM radio this morning and one of the baseball talk
shows stated that the talks between the Mets and White Sox about
Contreras is really picking up steam. Several Chicago News Papers are
reporting the same thing. I hope this is not true. Contreras is 36
years old and having a fairly poor season.
If the Mets do obtain another starter they will likely move Sosa to
the bull pen. I'm o.k. with that but when Martinez comes back they
would likely move Maine or Perez and I'm not o.k. with that. If the
Mets are going to move either Maine or Perez who are both young and
can be counted on not to be wearing down or out come playoff time I
hope it is for someone who is noticably better than them. Get a
player like Johan Santana and I will be o.k. with moving Perez or
Maine but not a pitcher like Contreras.

If Omar does listen to what fans have to say, we have our vetrans in
players like Martinez, Glavine, and Hernandez. We have our youth with
Maine and Perz. We need someone around 28 who has experiece but is
young enough to be dependable.
Buehrle, Zambrano, and Willis should be the type of pitcher the Mets
should be eyeing. If noone is availuable this year go with what we
have and wait for a true ace to become availuble


Carlos Gomez for Bronson Arroyo.
The Reds turned it down they want Reyes, Wright, and Fernando Martinez.
Omar is thinking about it.

I thought you were trying to be funny and if you're going to be funny you
might as well go all the way.
You have to admit a 5 tool, 21 year old who is getting better with every
game for a 2-9 pitcher who couldn't break our AAA rotation is pretty
funny.

Omar can not say anything about any player he is going after. Leaks do
happen and then there are just rumors. I haven't read or heard any rumors or
talk of Omar offering Gomez for anyone and I search hard. You are the only
one who seems to have this knowledge of you are serious.
I'm sure the Mets would be able to get someone like Arroyo for Milledge so
why offer Gomez. If Vegas was taking bets I would bet my house aginst a few
grand that Gomez doesn't go to the Reds for Arroyo unless there are other
players more valuable than Arroyo in the package.
