Re: Zambrano Fixed

While the examples of dentists and laser eye surgery may well be valid, they
don't easily translate to orthopedic surgeons operating in hospitals with
medical directors and peer review committees that can be real fussbudgets
about unnecessary surgeries. If a surgeon loses a patient on the table while
doing an unnecessary operation, he will be in a world of financial hurt.

Do you seriously believe that an orthopedic surgeon is going to do an

The border between 'necessary' and 'unnecessary' is increasingly
blurry.

You don't think that there are doctors interested in big $$s?

How about dentists. I happen be close to people in the dental industry,
and most dentists in our areas are crooks. Rather than do a multi surface
filling they push a crown, which is much more intrusive.

The staff is often kept on their ability to sell services.

And, take the same person to multiple dentists, a bunch of typical ones
and one honest reference one, you'll get a huge difference.

I have a cousin who writes for a major News magazine. One of the big
money makers is Laser correction surgery. First he had a complete eye
checkup from John Hopkins. It was not one of his better days. He found he
had an obvious and progressive eye disorder, that absolutely made him a
non candidate for laser correction Lasix or similar corrections
procedures.

He then went to 100s of laser surgery centers, and the vast majority
wanted to sell him surgery, which was clearly not indicated.
Interestingly, the boutique, expensive places were more likely to sell him
the surgery than the smaller chains.

We are talking about eye surgeons cutting eyes for strictly profit, most
definitely not in the patient's interests.

How many doctors do you know that run a mill, with tons of people in
multiple rooms, the doctor running between them? These doctors apparently
can be in two places at once.
