I know many people in this
group disagree with this, but in my opinion, the Mets are a much better
team with Brian Bannister in the rotation and Aaron Heilman in the
bullpen.
The Mets would be a much better team is Heilman was pitching 250 innings
as a starter and Bannister was given one more season at AAA.
What, again, is Heilman's career mark as a starter? His ERA as a starter
is, what, about 6?
A good spring does not make a starter on a playoff headed team out of a AA
pitcher never considered even at the top of the Mets feeding chain.
That's not the opinion of those who've seen him pitch over the past year or
so. Perhaps there's a reason the Mets dealt Petit, and not Bannister.
