Think about Ed. Kranpool whose career was destroyed because they didn't
let him learn skills in the minors.
Where they would have learned that he sucked earlier than they did.

.300 years, and in 74 he hit .323, which is pretty damn good. But he came
up way to soon which means his potential was never realized.
In 1974: .300 in 217 AB's; OBP=.350
In 1975: .323 in 325 AB's; OBP=.370
As we have learned, batting average is NOT a good indicator for a hitter.
And these two years, were the only two years where his OBP was .350 or
better. That, for a career that spanned 18 years, SUCKS. No amount of minor
league experience will substitute for talent.
Casey Stengel said of Kranepool, ca. 1962, "He's only 17 but he runs like
he's 30."
