Anyway, I don't understand the mentality of those trying to suppress
complaints. I believe this is the third year of ticket increases.(?) It
certainly will be interesting to revisit this issue when the Mets are housed
in a partially publicly funded stadium. Not to mention, the Mets' lease
history with the city was also a sweetheart of a deal.
And, let's not forget, from 2001 through 2003, the Mets owed the city
millions through audits after underreported revenue and overstated
deductions. They even way overstated monies allowable under new stadium
planning costs... so Sterling Mets, L.P. are no strangers to skirting
economic issues, or needing a watchdog. The hue and cry of capitalism can
only stretch so far, before the Public Advocate and State Attorney General's
Office are forced to intercede.
