Is what Significant Games in September look like?

On the one hand, in late August they were within 1/2 game of the lead
of the wildcard. On the other, they have dropped 7 of 9 since that time
and have 4 teams separating them from a playoff berth. And now they are
1-4 in the most important of months.
Still Jeff is probably patting himself on the back for delivering a
contender. Sure we're still the worst team in our division, but at
least its a good division! There's a chance that all of Phi, Hou, Fla
and Was will all tank it together and the Mets will cash in on their
League leading payroll as a wildcard with 85 wins.
Phooey. This is not growth. This is a highly flawed team that continues
to make bad on-field decisions based on previous bad off-field
decision. Management problems don't seem to abating though last year
were compunded with a series of injuries. We are seeing Reyes and
Wright play some exciting baseball, but we're a hamstring away from
another 70 win season. Based on what we're seeing, it appears we're
going to be looking up at the wild card for time.
