It doesn't seem like it matters much in the big picture.  Good teams
seem to do it about as much as bad teams.

It hasn't hurt the Red Sox overall as they have the best OPS in the
league with 2 strikes (.614)

I wonder how many of those attempts were Ellsbury, Crawford and
