2 catching propects to think about

Tim Federowicz  AA-Portland  Age 23

BA .333  OBP  .377  SLG  .521  OPS  .898

Federowicz is the best fielding catcher in the system.   His hitting
is a surprise so far this year.

From Sox Prospects.com: "Extremely strong and accurate arm with a
quick release. Outstanding at throwing runners out. Quick instincts.
Calls a good game and handles the pitching staff well. Working on
refining his blocking skills."

and....

Daniel Butler  Hi-A  Salem  24 years old.

Underwent TJ Surgery in 2007 so he may be a little behind age wise.
He is not listed  in the Red Sox Top 20 (according to
Soxprospects.com)....or even in the next 20 for that matter.  He shows
up at #41....but right now he is the leading hitter among all Red Sox
minor leaguers.

BA .342  OBP .444   SLG  .737   OPS 1.181

From Sox Prospects.com: "Above-average defensively with a slightly
above-average arm, nice glove, quick footwork. Great game caller."

Neither will be of any help this season....or probably even 2012....
but someday we may look back at this season's catching and all
laugh.....someday.

It looks like veteran McKenry is our only on ready to help this season
( 4 for 5 today )
