I see where the republicans are complaining that Reid is "Anti
Christmas" because they have to work on the days before and
after christmas.
i work in the real world and i have to work Monday thru Thursday
this week (may or may not get out early on Thursday),
I also have to work Monday - Thursday the folliowing week.
i see no reason why our legislators can't work many of these days
leading up to Christmas.
Last time I looked at the calendar Christmas was on the 25th,
Christmas eve was on the 24th.

Have you seen their schedule for '11?? They plan on working 123
days. For 162K a year they're going to work 123 days. You do the
math!!

Not to defend them...they generally deserve all the shit they get...but
seriously...you think the only work of anyone in congress happens only
when they are is session? They all maintain offices...see
constituents...and perform many other functions much of the rest of the
time they aren't actually meeting. I might be cynical too...but this type
of overstatement does nothing but confuse the issues and waste time over
petty bullshit. The question should be are they doing their actual jobs
and working for those constituents or the lobbyists that do them favors?

Maybe they should be unpaid. Then we would REALLY get the government we
pay for. I'm sure the folks that pay for all that lobbying would be very
happy with THAT.

they spend the majority of their time fund raising.
we need publicly only funded elections.
get the big money out.
make TV and radio give every candidate free time seeing as they use the
public airwaves for free.
eliminagte all special interests from running ads and that will take a lot
of the corruption out of things.
then any money they got would be a bribe and they could be presecuted.
