Sure. A minor league deal if he would take it would be okay with
me...but how that affects the 40 man roster has to be considered
as well.

I almost completely forgout about Bill Hall, who was acquired in the
Casey Kotchman trade. He can play a lot of positions, but I imagine
he'll be a bench warmer for the majority off the year, since he's
not great at any 1 position. But I guess he'll suffice if Lowell and
Beltre go down(on the DL) at 3B. Maybe he can play some outfield
too, and catcher...that would make him invaluable this season.

Hall started out as a SS for the Brewers but was switched to the OF.
He should be able to play every position except catcher and pitcher.

I think it would be highly unlikely that he would.

He did well last year in April.....very well in fact

BA .304 OBP .377 SLG .522 OPS .899 (he struck out about
26% of his AB)

For the rest of the year he was awful.........

BA .165 OBP .226 SLG .291 OPS .517 by September he was
striking out 42% of the time (35K in 85 AB)

If Lowrie is at all healthy he is the better player

Just to play devil's advocate I'll point out you've taken the guy's career
worst season...one in which he was traded halfway across the country and to
the AL no less where he was unfamiliar with the pitchers. If I take his
career best from 2006 it's quite a different picture no?

..270/.345/.553/.899 - Would you take that? For a super sub?

Let's see if he can split the difference. For the role he'll likely be
asked to fill that wouldn't be too shabby. Meanwhile...he's costing them
very little.

BTW...I'm also hoping Lowrie finally puts his injury problems behind
him...but they can't take that risk and they can leave him in Pawtucket if
they have to. He needs to play and prove he can do it for longer than he
has so far.
