I beg to differ. I think the Red Sox can get out relatively unscathed
and still sign Uggla to a 4 or 5 year deal. There's a slim chance he
will accept the arbitrationg offer from the Marlins, since they're try
to "lowball" him with $5 million for one year. He won't accept it, and
then the Red Sox swoop in and offer him a juicy contract which he
cannot refuse. Then we give up 1 or 2 blue chip prospects for him, and
everybody's happy.

arbitrator then selects one offer or the other. The player is

a player not eligible for free agency. No team can "sign" another
team's player and then "offer" prospects to the other team for said

any event my comparison of Mortimers was good. And make it Candice.
