Well yesterday I didn't watch much, I got home late, also I had my
real team the Dylan Panthers in a state championship for football LOL,
it is my show Friday Night Lights, does any one watch it? Anyway I
saw most of the game today for some reason, it is so much sports today
with hockey and the final fours, this is my only chance to be on line.
Well Oliver Perez was terrible, he gave up 6 runs, only 1 earned but
it is a pet peeve, he made an error but then gave up a grand slam to
LOWRIE, I hate when the pitcher gets off the hook with the unearned
runs when it is like that. I think VARITEK hit a homerun but I missed
it, I'm pretty sure it was him but I didn't see where he hit it.
ROCCO looks good, I swear it is no joke, he had a single and double
and played CF though he didn't have any hard plays even in that crazy
wind and big outfield. Later Ellsbury came in and had a walk and hit,
he looks a little better now. Youkilis I think had a couple of RBI's,
CARTER continues to hit well though he had an adventure in LF, Keith
Hernandez said his swing reminds him of Lance Berkman which is a high
complement. Also I forgot to say but BILL JAMES in his new gold
nugget book says that for Carter, bear in mind that most Pawtucket
players actually IMPROVE their OPS when they get to the majors, he had
a long list of players, it includes Youkilis, Pedroia, Shoppach,
Ellsbury, Murphy, Nixon, Freddie Sanchez, Eckstein, even bad ones like
Wilton Veres did better in the majors, he said only 2 were less Hidzu
and Moss, the 1st not by much and the 2nd he expects will improve this
yar on Pittsburgh. So this MIGHT show Carter could be for real as a
hitter, we can only hope this is the case for Boston.
Dicek was his usual self, I had to turn my head from all the walks but
he gave up no runs, Ramirez gave up one he was a little wild, BARD was
spectacular, I admit I may very well have underestimmated him, Ron
Darling said he reminds him of Tom Henkie if you remember him from the
Blue Jays, a great reliever, he made Ryan Church look like a rookie
with the blown away heat. It was a big win, the Red Sox killed the
Mets 9 to 3.
Oh also is it me or my tv, is PAPI ORTIZ slimmer now, he looks thinner
and in better shape, he was even some what nimble on the bases, he was
on base alot but all walks, one line out. Lowell also is moving
around a little better, he is slow of course but he seems comfortible.
It was also funny, the producers gave the wrong info for a pitching
change, the announcer said Lars Anderson was coming in to pitch, the
announcer said that's impossible, then every time a new player came in
the announcers made a joke that it was Lars Anderson at short stop,
pinch running, etc. The Red Sox were smart, Francona put in all the
guys sent down a long time ago, Red***, Lars for real (he made a good
play in defense to get a force out), DAEGES (he looked like a fool in
RF though the wind was INSANE), Wagner, etc. There were no injurys,
spring training is over, now we have a season.
I'm watching the replay now. Yesterday one of the announcers said they
would see us "tomorrow" at 6pm. So I missed the action. I think we
have to adjust our thinking and learn to live with DiceK and assume he
knows what he is doing - as much as it makes me nervous. So far, so
good.
Yes Sarge you are right again, believe me I would rather have 5 or 6
innings with 0 to 2 runs even if it is a thrill ride than a more
eficient but less productive pitcher giving up 3 in 7 let us say. It
just is hard to watch, Sarge do you think maybe if he pitched with the
stretch all the time he would do better with the bases empty?
