What does it take to get rid of Varitek?
Hit .187 over the last 4 months + one week of last year?
No problem.
Hard time throwing out Jose Molina on the bases?
No problem.
Idiotically offer him arbitration after a season not worthy of a
minimum contract? Dodge a giant bullet when he declines arbitration.
Dodge another bullet when he rejects initial offers. Still no problem.
The Red Sox raise their offer a bit and he signs.
Pick up where he left off last year, only worse, with 2 hits in 22
spring training at bats? No problem? We shall see. Someone needs to
release him over the objections of the dim-witted Francona who would
obliviously ruin the season by play Varitek in over 100 games no
matter how bad he is if left alone. After the All Star break he might
actually PH for him once in a while, but don't count on it.
Is Varitek a Transylvanian name?
Gnork I agree but did you know that Bard 2 years ago had 10 caught
stealling's and gave up about 120 stolen bases, I don't care how bad
the pitchers are for holding on, that can not be a good arm. Ok I
have flip flopped a million times but here is my final answer for the
millionaire show, MIGUEL MONTERO!!! He can hit, he is on ARizona,
they have him now as a back up, he can be a good catcher. But it will
not happen, we will be stuck with the captain while Theo prays for a
miracle from Esposito or Wagner to some how be McCan's.
