There is a lot of talk about the "Yankess and Red Sox always bidding
for the big name free agents!" but here's an interesting tidbit --
Since the current owners have taken over in 2003, the Boston Red Sox
have signed precisely ONE free agent from another team to a contract
whose total value exceeds $40 million, and that's JD Drew ($70 million
over 5 years). So nobody should be surprised at how the Sox dealt
with FA thus far; this is what they do.

Interesting non-sequiturs... when I presented the evidence that since
2003, the Red Sox have not chased high priced free agents, what
possessed you to present those totally unrelated comments? They have
nothing to do with the Sox not chasing high-priced free agents. And
I'm sure you know that in neither of the championship years were the
Red Sox the highest payroll in baseball, nor the highest payroll in
the AL, nor the highest payroll in the AL East Division.
