I see where Caroline Kennedy has not voted in past elections.

Don't argue for her if you lobbied against Palin based on experience
or you are a hypocrit.

Bullshit. Apples and oranges. Being a member of
Congress is a far cry from being one heartbeat away from the
running the country. Caroline Kennedy may not be a very good
Senator, should she get the appointment, and if that's the case the
good people of NY will not elect her to the office in two years.
She has a degree in Constitutional Law, has spent her entire life
involved in politics in some form and has worked hard for some
great causes.... that's more experience than some in Congress have
had.

I agree. But I WILL say, I don't see why there shouldn't be a speedy
special election in these cases.

Maybe the millions of $$$$ it would take to run an
election........millions of $$$$ the states don't have
right now.

Just think what we could save by eliminating ALL elections. Any guesses
what this last presidential election cost including all campaign costs?
That money also could have gone to better use as well. Damn. Democracy
is so friggin' costly. Has to be a better way right?

that money all went back into the economy. where would you rather it go.
it wasn't until the early 20th century senators were elected as it is. they
used to be picked by the state legislatures.
