So.........do you disagree with what I just said there?  Do you think
he should have picked someone who *didn't* advance his liberal agenda?
John

I think the choice was perfect.    I hope choosing Emanuel sets the
stage for the rest of the selections..... hardass, hardworking, well
respected, bulldog types.

I like those kinds of people too and think he'll be effective.

I don't consider Obama's agenda to be liberal
so I can't answer your question the way it's phrased.

Really? Why not? He has been rated by the National Journal as the
most liberal senator in the US (http://nj.nationaljournal.com/
voteratings/). His record is that of a left-wing liberal. Here's a
quote from the Wall Street Journal editorial of April 2, 2008 (yes, I
know the WSJ is, generally, a conservative paper...but this was during
the primaries, not the general election, and I am pretty sure they
have the facts right on this...checking out Obama's web site reveals,
to my eyes, no refutation of this):

"On economic policy, Mr. Obama favors higher income, Social Security
and corporate taxes. He supports massive increases in domestic
spending and greater government regulation of the economy. He favors a
significantly larger role for the federal government in health care.
He opposes the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Obama has criticized the Supreme Court's decision to uphold a
partial birth abortion ban, and he wants to repeal the Defense of
Marriage Act. He voted against John Roberts and Samuel Alito for the
Supreme Court. In Illinois, Mr. Obama supported banning the
manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. And he supports granting
driver's licenses to illegal immigrants."

These are all liberal positions. Listen, it's ok to say he'll advance
a liberal agenda - that's what his record says he is, and it's what
he's advocated. He won, so he gets to advance that agenda. There
should be no shame in that.

John
PS - I know Obama has said he wants to reduce taxes for the majority
of Americans, but *overall*, he wants Americans to pay more in income
tax than they do presently.
