Obama's pick for his Chief of Staff?
Fantastic choice. Emanuel is a bulldog. He doesn't take shit from
anyone and will be the storm to Obama's calm. Considering part of the job
description is to protect the interests of the president it was a very
smart
choice.
He's moving fast. President elects don't usually start filling jobs
until December. I think everyone realizes what a shit storm he's walking
into and I'm glad he's not waiting until January 20th to start confronting
the problems. Unfortunately we have to put up with 10 more weeks of
Bush Co. Will be interesting to see how broad the pardons are before he
leaves office.
I read this article this morning..... and have been smiling ever since.

Exactly. This appointment is *perfect* for Obama, as he seeks to
implement his liberal agenda (as he should). This is a quote from
that article:
"A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual
solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama
could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now
consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and
potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most
onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who
was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of
the transition.
In some instances, Obama would be quickly delivering on promises he
made during his two-year campaign, while in others he would be
embracing Clinton-era policies upended by President Bush during his
eight years in office.
"The kind of regulations they are looking at" are those imposed by
Bush for "overtly political" reasons, in pursuit of what Democrats say
was a partisan Republican agenda, said Dan Mendelson, a former
associate administrator for health in the Clinton administration's
Office of Management and Budget."
So the people he's consulting with are liberal advocacy groups. Yeah,
it verifies my claim earlier that the only "change" Obama wants is not
a "new kind of politics", but rather a change from a neoconservative
ideology to a liberal one. I just wish that's what he would have said
during the campaign, because it's clear that's what he's all about.
(and again, that's fine...he's a liberal's liberal, and he should be
who he really is...I cannot criticize him for that)
John (laughing at the part about Bush being "overtly political" and
the "partisan Republican agenda", as if Obama isn't "overtly
political" and this won't somehow be a "partisan Democratic
agenda"....LOL)
If things like environmental protections and stem cell research are a
'partisan Democratic agenda' then you have a problem. If you think whats
happened during the last 8 years with signing statements, shredding the
constitution, raping the environment, starting an unjust and unnecessary
war, handing out no bid contracts to line the pockets of friends, the
disappearance of millions in cash from Iraq, firing justice department
employees because they weren't 'on your side' and on and on..... are just
fine with you.... then you still have a problem.
Your guy has 10 weeks left to screw things up some more... $100. says
he pulls it off, somehow. Pardons for the entire cabinet because he knows
they're all criminals? That would be my guess....
