It was a Democrat thing.  Here's an article from September, 1999 (well
before Bush came into office) from the *New York Times* (maybe the
most liberal paper in the United States):
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0DE7DB153EF933A0575A....

Anyone who thinks the NYTimes is the most liberal paper in America
does not read many papers. Or like Palin, they read all of "them". <g>
I'd describe the NYTimes as a middle-left paper that provides
significant access for conservative views and is widely regarded as
the best and most accurate newspaper in the US and one of the best in
the world. It is about 32%-68% in its endorsement of Reps.-Dems in
presidential elections. It endorsed Wendell Wilkie over FDR, Dewey
over Truman, Ike over Stevenson. More liberal recently, as the
Republican party has moved its center to the deep south.

You're unbelievable. As evidence that the NYT really isn't that
liberal, you bring up the following evidence...that some 50-60 years
ago they endorsed a few republican presidential candidates.

Wow...the NYT really *isn't* that liberal after all!!

LOL.
