You are so predictably wrong. A super talented young catcher is the
best nucleus to build a team. I doubt if the Dodgers would be willing
to do it. The deal would also save a lot of salary for Boston. Dimwits
often forget that a team, because they make a trade, is not precluded
from signing free agents or making other trades and that money saved
in the first deal may be used to accomplish future goals.Neither
Beckett nor papelbon is a real nucleus. No "closer" can be and Boston
has lots of young pitching and lots of money.
How did the Sox win last year without a "super talented young
catcher"? Because of Beckett and Papelbon.
It really is hard to believe this horrible team, with it's braindead manager
and over-rated, incompetent GM, not to mention the disgraceful
publicity savvy ownership has won anything at all. What with this terrible
catcher...crappy centerfielder...and always too many over-the-hill or just
plain shitty relievers...they should finish last annually. I guess they're
all just lucky. Either that or everyone else in baseball are even dumber.
They are proven, their young pitching, other than Lester, isn't.
Buchholz is young, is he proven yet?
Obviously, you don't think a closer is important, but when leads are
lost in the ninth, you might think differently.
As for saving salary, whatever. Manny and Schilling will be off the
books, and maybe Tek as well.
As for catching talent...it is exceedingly unlikely anyone will trade away a
top flight all around catcher...given the dearth of talent at the
position...so why even have the freaking discussion? Because it creates
another opportunity for Gnork to maintain once again, his utter disdain for
the value of a closer. He so loves beating that dead horse. You see anyone
who disagrees is obviously a complete fool...regardless how many years of
actual success they may have had. Gnork having so great a track record
himself.
It's amazing how everyone IN baseball doesn't known what they are
doing. They are all idiots, for not consulting with Gnork.
