Game 37---May 8th.---Don's grade/thoughts !!!

Okay, I'll admit to over reacting a bit last night by making a big deal
of those 2 non-error plays by Lugo in the 9th. inning. However, the
error was so major to the loss that the GOAT stands. It may not have
cost the win but almost certainly did cost the tie.
We've seen teams for the last time early in seasons before since the
unbalanced schedule (Which I love because they should play division
rivals more.) returned, but with this being the last regular season
against the Tigers, it seems this is the earliest.
Let's talk a bit about Kevin Youkilis. This kid just keeps getting
better and better. His defense at first has already reached legendary
heights (Okay, maybe "only" record setting heights.), and he hit well
for average last year. Now he seems to be on the verge of blossoming as
a power hitter. It took a while for him to mature, and he probably
still is, but he's about to become a genuine super star if he isn't
already. And how about that versatility both in the field and any where
in the batting order.
Got a Beckett story that I may have told here before but I think of this
most times he pitches. The therapist I worked with while in the nursing
home last year lived next to the Beckett's when Josh was a baby. She
baby sat him and changed his diapers. She also said he was a typical
Texas 'good ol' boy' even back then. Anyway, whatever he WAS I like
what he's become and sure am glad they didn't trade him for pre-2007
value like someone wanted. Sorry G, just gotta bring that up every now
and then.
Well if the 8th and 9th were intended to help solve the Hansen or Delco
questions, them both pitching a scoreless inning didn't do much in that
area.
