I agree. What, now Paps has to do Lugo's job on top of his own?
Bullshit. I hope Lowrie gets the job and Lugo sits. I don't see Tito
doing it though, unfortunately. This guy's going to have 40 errors
this season.

Lowrie did not get to a couple of ground balls on the right side that
I suspect Padroi would have gotten to. He is fine, but not a lot of
range, from the little I've seen. Lugo, for all his faults, had
excellent range.

But what good is range if you have hands of stone? When someone has
"excellent range", I expect to see the occasional spectacular play. I
may have seen one or two from him in his one+ season here. At least
last season, with all his troubles at the plate, he wasn't a defensive
liability. Didn't make any great plays, but he didn't muff the
routine ones either. This year he's hitting better but he's another
Error Renteria with the glove. And he's not exactly crushing the ball
to make up for his atrocious defense.

Not defending him. Hands of stone is unfair. His error last night was
on the transfer, not on fielding the ball. He distracted himself
glancing at the runner approaching second more quickly than he had
anticipated. He did make at least one fine play in game 1 of the
series --- backhand in the hole. He generally makes that play well.
The other is the pop up in foul territory along the LF line. I think
the majority of his errors are throwing errors, by the way, but I
don't have any stats --- just observations, which are not reliable.

His hitting is not v. good, despite a respectable average. He had more
power with TB --- not great, but he did have 15 HRs one year and 12 in
another. He had 8 last year (more than I remembered) and none so far
this year. His SLG this year is only .342, well below his TB numbers.
