Per RotoWorld and the Globe, Bobby Kielty has re-signed with Boston on
a "nonguaranteed" 1-year contract. Since the 40-man roster is
currently full, I assume this means a minor league deal with an invite

and he can earn an additional $300K in incentives.
Glad to have him back. I think he's a quality reserve who can hit
lefties, play adequate defense, and won't complain about his role.
Does this mean we'll carry 5 outfielders and "only" 11 pitchers? Does
this mean Covelli will soon be traded, with Kielty being the 4th OF
and Drew the backup CF? We shall see....
BTW, Kielty reportedly will give up switch-hitting and just bat
righty. Not that it matters a great deal, since he batted lefty so
infrequently anyhow.
It is time to package Crisp and Tavarez in a deal. The signing of
Casey actually makes it more likely that they will go with a sane 5
man bench because of Casey's lack of versatility. They bench post Coco
trade could be:
Mirabelli or a better backup catcher.
Cora awaiting a mid-season Lowrie arrival.
Kielty, now batting righty only.
Moss, bats lefty, but handles both types of pitchers well.
Casey
That would be a good bench.
