Nobody other than Gnork has been more critical of Crisp's hitting, but

Because of his defense, relatively cheap salary, and the hope against
hope that he'll figure out how to hit again, I agree that Crisp could
be a starting CF for several teams (most of which you've listed).  I
think Cincy will stick with the rookie Jay Bruce, who's said to be a
tremendous prospect, and Minnesota may very well go-go with Gomez.
But if Boston is determined to trade Crisp, I think there will be some
takers.  (I do agree with Gnork that they're not going to get great
prospects for Coco, but I think they can get something useful.)

I keep reading Gnork complain about Coco's OPS numbers, so I started
looking at random at other CFer's career  #'s ...

Baldelli - .767
Cabrera - .728
Granderson -.837
Damon - .786
Ichiro - .816
Hunter - .793
Coco - .738

Is that really SO out of line given his salary and defense and speed?
Hell...Youks OPS is .817 as a firstbaseman.  I don't hear all the grief
about him.

He's no All-Star, but he's a very serviceable big leaguer.  I'm not that
unhappy with his 85 runs, 141 hits and 60 RBI on a team with the kind of
offensive threats he is surrounded by.  For under 5 million?

Now, I'd rather trade him for value, than use him as a (possibly unhappy)
backup, but to give him away to dump salary is ridiculous IMHO.

Everyone is leaving Tito out of this.
You shouldn't, given his preference for playing the veteran. How many times
did you see Tito with his arms around Coco in the dugout at the end of the
season?

Pawtucket.....

I think we need a reality check here.  The American league has four
playoff spots and five monsters teams.....(with Toronto just waiting
for someone to slip.)   If Ellsbury and Buchholz are not
playing.....and playing somewhat close to their projections then the
Red Sox won't be in the post season.  Those two guys are not luxuries.

I could not agree more. I cringe every time I read about these kids
possibly being in AAA to start the season (though it's a lot less
plausible that they'd do it with Ellsbury). Whether it's to baby them
or play games with their service time, I think it's totally wrong. If
these kids are the best options, from a pure baseball standpoint, to
be starters, then they should have the jobs.

To me, there's a point when a young player ceases to be a "prospect"
or "future" guy, and becomes someone who's a major contributor in the
present. Pedroia passed that threshhold last year, and Papelbon did
it in 2005. I don't know if Ellsbury and Buchholz are quite there
yet, but to me it's darned close. I'd hate to see them stuck in AAA
if it's not a talent-related decision.
