couldn't get the config I wanted without VISTA.
Yet, we keep enabling their behavior with our patronage.....
My last purchase of a MS product was a Dell laptop when my old laptop
died. Since my computer was DOA I didn't have a lot of time to shop
around. That older computer (also a Dell) came with Windows ME--total
shit. It was so useless it necessitated buying a retail copy of XP
Pro a couple years later and doing a clean install. That was the
beginning of the end of my MS patronage. XP requires about 120-150
patches on top of Service Pack two, and still counting. Way to go
Bill. I have an OEM upgrade of Vista Home Premium that came with my
new computer that I plan to sell on eBay.
(Someone needs to test the legality of selling software pre-installed
with a computer, that can't be re-sold once it has been installed
without selling the entire computer. It is time that Americans stood
up for those vaunted "freedoms" that they love to talk about, with
actions, their votes, and their wallets, and not just meaningless
words. The EU has the balls to stand up to corporations. When did
this country become such a bunch of pathetic, brainwashed toadies to
corporate policy?)
My next purchase will be a Macbook Pro, with Leopard, and plan to load
my copy of XP on a separate partition using Bootcamp. I have one
essential program which doesn't run on a Mac or Linux. All of the
rest I think I can do without.
