A couple weeks? What season were you watching? More like a couple
months, and he was even better in the post season. And as for your 'sure
thing' comment, nothing else is a sure thing either.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it just the first couple weeks that were
very hot and then generally down from there ?
In any case - a couple weeks - a couple months - the jury is still out.
Believe me - I'm hoping for the best - but I'm also a realist and have seen
guys have hot starts and fade from sight before.
I agree Ellsbury is unproven but so are many things in life. The
bigger the sample size the more likely an outcome can be statistically
calculated a sprobable. He has hit everywhere he's been and had a
solid few months at the major league level. Could he be a total
failure....yes. Is it likely... no. On that same note could Coco hit .
400....yes....could he hit .120 yes....Is either likely? No. You look
at the track record and the skillset and see a young man with a bright
future. If he does tank I'd be likely to conclude it would be due to
injuries or other non talent related issues.
