You made my day, Sarge. Can't wait for all this to start up again!
I like the mix in that rookie program. Some top prospects, some
less-touted but productive minor leaguers (Jones, Richardson, Bates,
Bell), and three "old" but fun underdogs (Hansack, Brown, and Eric Van
Every). Van Every is an everyman that every fan will root for. He's
a late bloomer who had good stats in 2007 in Cleveland's system, and
could be a sleeper as a 4th OF, or a good Pawtucket regular.
Pawtucket's roster is still a bit hazy, but here's what I have so far:
C: Kottaras/Brown/Cash (two of the three)
1B/DH: Carter/Bailey
2B: Joe Thurston (minor league FA)
SS: Lowrie
3B: Chad Spann?
LF: Sean Danielson (PTBNL in Pineiro deal) or Jeff Corsaletti
CF: Van Every
RF: Moss (if he's sent down) or Corsaletti
Bell and Aaron Bates may have outside chances of making the AAA team,
but only if they really rake in spring training.
SP: Masterson/Hansack/Pauley/Zink/Tejera (minor league FA)--Bowden
could make it but will probably begin in AA
RP: Hansen/Corey/Gronkiewicz/Breslow/Switzer (minor league
FA)/Martinez--the first two could make the big league team, and other
candidates include Abe Alvarez, Hunter Jones (more likely to be in
AA), and Chris Smith.
Not sure how great this team will be, but at least you'll be able to
see Masterson and Lowrie, plus some other decent prospects/sleepers.
