Hughes may be good, but right now he's overrated by virtue of his
being a "Yankee Prospect." If I'm trading Johan Santana, you simply
cannot put all your eggs in one basket by taking the chance that
Hughes will pan out. You need another top prospect so that at least
one will end up being a success. The Yankees refused to include
someone like Kennedy which would make the Twins say, "OK, one of these
will work out." Lester, on the other hand, has a proven track record
of ML success, so there is a better chance of him succeeding, and the
Sox are also adding multiple decent level prospects, which allows the
Twins to know that they will get some long term beneift. The Sox
offers are far better than the Yanks.
