Look. I know you consider all of this science...I know you know that I
don't. :)

Bob-Nob gave you a terrific summary of the arguments for being willing
to part with Jacoby. Your counter, unfortunately, is pure emotion.

I know there are no guarantees that Ellsbury will continue to be improve or
become a perennial all-star. That's so hard to predict. I'm also well
aware that we're dealing with a small *sample* and all that. The sample we
have was accomplished during a pennant race and right on through the
play-offs. Not many players...including HOF caliber players like Ted
Williams and Alex Rodriguez, thrive in those circumstances.

I think it is at least non nonsensical to note that ARod has had
problems in the post season. And he's had a few opportunities, so,
lthough the sample size is still small, I don't have a problem with
you making some broad generalization (with some caveats) that he is
not "clutch" in the playoffs. But the generalization about Teddy
Ballgame from one WS appearance, which he was injured, is, well, off
the wall.

Minnesota should consider the fact that this should only be considered a
rental price, but this is as much about PR with their own fans. I
understand that.

Perhaps you don't. I don't understand why you think MN whould not get
as much as they can for Santana. The offers are well beyond what I
think is the fair value for a rental, due to the competition between
RS and NYY and the preceied "premium" (value above FA salary) from a
superstar.
