See above. The important thing is to get the right call. It should not

Why is it so important to get the call "right"?
What? WHAT???!!!
You have got to be fucking kidding me? Are you SERIOUS???
Are you seriously defending incompetence????
It's a game, played by
the rules of the game. The current rule is that it is a strike if the
ump says it is a strike. By definition, there are never any wrong
calls in baseball (at least on balls and strikes). You seem happy
enough to live with close calls b/c a machine will also have calls too
close to call. I'd say the reply resolve only about 80% of cases. By
"resolve" I mean reach a decision on which there is a consensus.
Sure, if getting consensus on calls is of paramount importance, then
bring on the machines. If playing a game with human beings and dealing
with stuff as best we can, then keep the machines away from baseball.
This is not a debate about logic, it is about what we want the game to
be. I think the game is more fun with umps and their occasional
mistakes. You may prefer some other game. Fine with me. I just hope
people with your point of view do not succeed in changing the game I
like.
