Everywhere, there are people suggesting that the division race is
over, the Yankees can't possibly catch the Red Sox, etc., etc. I
fully expect the Red Sox to win the division, but to say that the race
is over now is just silly. Never mind going back to 1978, or to
1988's "Morgan Magic" or the Miracle Braves, or any of the other
historic unlikely comebacks. Just last year, from June 29 to the end
of the season, the Yankees outplayed the Red Sox by 15 games in the
standings.

So to say that it's over now is just silly. Again, I'll be very
surprised if the Yankees catch them. But to suggest that it can't
happen, the lead's too big, just doesn't make sense...
Right. Where were they this time last year? It's a marathon.
The Yankees don't have the pitching right now to make a run, but the Red Sox
could falter if the pitching falters and they don't get Schilling back soon.
And you never know who the next major Yankee purchase will be.
